Thanksgiving Safety Tips 2013
On Thursday this week, we get together with family, friends and loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving. We want to wish you all a safe Thanksgiving by sharing some safety tips.
DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE: Everyone knows this one, but each year hundreds of people are killed during Thanksgiving weekend as a result of alcohol related accidents. You have many options: designate a sober driver, call a cab, hire a car service. Either way, plan ahead and avoid making decisions while intoxicated.
DON’T LET OTHERS DRINK AND DRIVE: Save a life and don’t let a friend or family member drink and drive. No one wants to spoil a good time, but if someone you know has been drinking and is trying to drive, don’t let them. Take their keys away, drive them home or call them a cab.
PREVENT FIRE: Every year, more than 4,000 fires are reported each year during Thanksgiving weekend. These fires can be devastating. Make sure you have enough help in the kitchen, keep watch of your stove and oven and keep all flammables out of the way. If you choose to deep-fry your turkey, make sure to keep a close eye.
EXPECT DELAYS: Thanksgiving weekend is notorious for major traffic in Southern California. Give yourself enough time to get to your destination to avoid a stressful experience.
