Liability For Fresno County Car Accidents

Speeding is one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United Sates. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2020, killing 11,258, or an average of over 30 people per day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 10,136.” There are many other factors that could contribute to a car accident.

  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions
  • Vehicle systems failures

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid collisions. Any driver that flees the scene of a collision could face criminal and civil liability for their actions. Liability for a car accident could extend beyond any driver. Pickup trucks are often used for commercial purposes. Generally speaking, companies are liable for the wrongful actions of their employees who were working within the course and scope of their job duties. There are many steps that should be taken after any car accident.

  • Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Fragments of any fleeing vehicle should be examined.

Car accidents can be one of the most difficult things that most people will ever go through. They can be especially hard for those that lost a loved one.  The family of any person that died due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
