Liability For Concord Hit-And-Run Car Accidents

Bicycles have become more common as the price of gas has increased. But this has also lead to a sharp increase in the number of bicycle accidents. According to the CDC, “Bicycle trips make up only 1% of all trips in the United States. However, bicyclists account for over 2% of people who die in a crash involving a motor vehicle on our nation’s roads.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a hit-and-run collision including:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Driver fatigue

Under California law, bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as those in vehicles. Drivers must reduce their speed to avoid colliding with any pedestrian or bicyclist in the roadway. Any person that is injured due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. A bicycle accident attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
