Liability For Selma Car Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured in pedestrian accidents every year. According to the IIHS, “Pedestrian motor vehicle crash deaths have increased 59 percent since reaching their low point in 2009 and account for 17 percent of crash fatalities. The rates of pedestrian deaths in motor vehicle crashes per 100,000 people are highest for people ages 20-69.” There are many factors that could contribute to a pedestrian collision.

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Dangerous turns
  • Poor road conditions

All drivers must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing in lawfully marked crosswalks. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person that is killed in a pedestrian accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a wrongful death claim. It is extremely important that all evidence is properly preserved after any collision.
