Honda Dangerous Airbag Recall
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced yesterday that an audit of Honda Motors Company revealed that the company had failed to report at least 1,729 deaths and injuries. For the past eleven years, Honda reported only half of what the actual numbers are and attributed the discrepancy on “inadvertent data entry and computer errors.”
This news comes on the heels of several major lawsuits, a US Justice Department investigation and hearing by the US Senate that Honda intentionally withheld information regarding defects that were know in its Takata airbags. The defect involves a defective airbag that when deployed sprays out shrapnel from the metal components causing serious injury or death to drivers and passengers.
More than 14 million cars are equipped with the defective Takata airbag and have been recalled worldwide. For more information, please contact us today or visit our dangerous airbag client center.
