Liability In Los Angeles Pedestrian Accidents

Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in car accidents. Los Angeles can be particularly dangerous for pedestrians. According to the LA Times, “The city’s streets are increasingly dangerous for pedestrians in particular, with 486 being severely injured by motorists — a 35% increase over 2020. Pedestrian deaths rose 6% to 128.” There are a number of factors that could potentially contribute to a pedestrian accident.

  • Speeding
  • Drunk driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Driver fatigue

Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. The family of any victim that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Sadly, though, insurance providers will often fight hard to avoid helping accident victims. Our team of pedestrian safety advocates are here to answer any questions that you may have.
