Update: October 2, 2026. A 75-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a collision at South Torrey Pines Drive and Celeste Avenue in Las Vegas, according to reporting that cites the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

What police have reported

The collision occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on October 1. The pedestrian was crossing in a marked crosswalk north of West Rochelle Avenue when a vehicle struck him. The driver remained at the scene. The preliminary report states that the driver did not see the pedestrian in time to stop. Police did not report signs of impairment.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His name and medical condition have not been released publicly. The investigation remains ongoing.

What remains unknown

Early reports do not establish legal responsibility. Investigators may still review video, witness statements, roadway lighting, vehicle data, sightlines, traffic signals, and the parties’ movements before the collision. A marked crosswalk is an important fact, but it does not replace a full investigation.

Why early evidence matters after a Las Vegas pedestrian crash

After a serious pedestrian collision, evidence can disappear quickly. Video can be overwritten, vehicles can be repaired, and witness recollections can fade. Families should preserve photographs, medical records, dispatch information, and any communications from insurers. They should also avoid giving recorded statements before they understand the facts and their options.
