Two older adults died after a house fire on Rose Court in Monte Sereno early on October 7, 2026, according to reporting that cites the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

Firefighters rescued two people from the home

Crews responded at about 2 a.m. to the 17000 block of Rose Court. They found fire coming through the roof of a two-story residence. Firefighters entered the home and rescued two adults.

The victims were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where they died. Authorities had not released their names or exact ages when this article was published.

Investigation remains open

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. KTVU reported that crews used a two-alarm response. Investigators have not announced what started the fire or identified a party responsible for it.

The department also stressed the importance of working smoke alarms. That safety reminder does not establish whether alarms were present or working in this home.

Records that can help explain a fatal residential fire

A fire investigation can require review of scene photographs, the origin-and-cause report, alarm equipment, electrical and gas systems, and repair records. These are possible evidence sources. They are not findings about this property.

Families who need information about a fatal fire can review TORKLAW’s resources on fire accidents, burn injuries, and premises liability. For questions about a specific incident, contact TORKLAW.
