Benjamin Sweeney

Ben Sweeney has spent his entire legal career representing injured people. Admitted to the Illinois bar in 2015, he is a personal injury attorney at TORKLAW, where he handles cases involving car and truck collisions, unsafe property conditions, and other claims involving negligence.

Ben also spent two years representing former railroad employees who developed illnesses after years of exposure on the job. He pursued those claims under the Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA), working through complex medical evidence to establish the connection between his clients' working conditions and their illnesses.

Ben brings close attention to detail and an ability to see the bigger picture to his practice. He takes the time to understand the medical records, examine the evidence, and prepare for the issues the other side is likely to raise. Throughout that process, he keeps the focus on his client: what the injury has meant for their daily life, and what they need from their case.

Ben recently served as co-counsel in a personal injury case in which the defendant's insurer offered $10,000 shortly before trial, after more than two years of litigation with no offers. The case went to trial, and the jury returned a verdict of $415,875.68 for the plaintiff.

Ben understands that most clients come to him during a difficult and unfamiliar time. An injury can affect their work, their family, and their ability to do things they once took for granted. He takes those concerns seriously and makes sure they are reflected in how he prepares and presents each case.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and their two daughters.
