Woman Injured In Red Bluff Car Accident on Antelope Boulevard

RED BLUFF, CALIFORNIA (November 29, 2022) – A woman was seriously injured in a Red Bluff car accident with a van along Antelope Avenue near Damon Avenue.

Tehama County officials are saying that the accident took place around 7:00 p.m. on Monday. A woman was walking when she was hit by a utility van.

The driver of the utility van remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Liability For Red Bluff Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrians are more likely to be overlooked by drivers. According to the Centers for Disease Control,”Most pedestrian deaths occur in urban areas, on roadway locations away from intersections (where higher speeds might occur), and at night. Adults aged 65 years and older accounted for about 17% of the U.S. population in 2020.” There are a number of steps that drivers should take in order to avoid pedestrians.

  • Drivers should slow down in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.
  • Drivers should abstain from alcohol and drugs.
  • Drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them.

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. Pursuant to California Vehicle Code 21950, the driver approaching any pedestrian in the roadway shall slow down and take any other action necessary to safeguard the wellbeing of the pedestrian. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim.

Utility vans are often used for commercial purposes. If the driver of a utility van was working at the time of a collision, the company that they were working for could be held at fault. Generally speaking, companies are liable for the wrongful actions of their employees – insofar as those employees were working within the course and scope of their job duties. Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious and costly injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Spinal cord injuries

Many accident victims may not realize the full extent of their injuries for several weeks or months after a collision. Any person that is injured due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover many of the expenses that can come with a serious injury. A pedestrian accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
