Liability For El Cajon Pedestrian Accidents

Los Angeles County has one of the highest instances of pedestrian collisions across California. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes.” There are a number of steps that drivers should take in order to avoid hitting pedestrians.

  • Drivers should slow down at night and during periods of inclement weather.
  • Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns.
  • Drivers should abstain from alcohol and other intoxicating substances.

Every driver must use caution to avoid hitting pedestrians. This is true even if a pedestrian is outside of a marked crosswalk. When a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person that died in an El Cajon pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
