Liability For Pomona Hit-And-Run Car Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in hit-and-run collisions. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, “The current analysis found that both the rates of hit-and-run crashes and fatalities are increasing. There were an estimated 737,100 hit-and-run crashes in 2015 (NHTSA, 2016). This translates to a hit-and-run crash happening somewhere in the U.S. every 43 seconds.” There are a number of common causes of hit-and-run collisions including:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Poor road conditions
  • Inclement weather
  • Driver intoxication

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid hitting bicyclists and pedestrians. If a driver flees the scene of an injury collision, this could form the basis of a civil and criminal claim. The family of any person that is killed in a pedestrian accident may have recourse through a wrongful death claim.
