Two People Injured In La Porte House Explosion Accident on Rocky Hollow Road

LA PORTE, TEXAS (November 26, 2022) – At least two people were injured in a La Porte home explosion accident on Rocky Hollow Road, according to the La Porte Fire Department.

La Porte officials are saying that the accident took place at 11:54 a.m. on Saturday. Two people were injured when there was a sudden explosion at the home.

Two neighbors went into the house and were able to pull out a mother and a grandmother. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims.

Both victims were taken to the hospital in order to receive treatment. No official cause of the fire has been released at this time. But a gas leak is suspected as a cause.

Liability For La Porte House Explosion Accidents

Gas leaks are one of the leading causes of home explosions in the United States. According to a report by the National Fire Protection Association, “An estimated average of 4,200 home structure fires per year started with the ignition of natural gas. These fires caused an average of 40 deaths per year. The statistics, incident descriptions from NFPA publications and reports from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) show that most major gas incidents involved some type of leak.” There are a number of steps that can be taken to prevent gas explosion accidents.

  • Appliances should be hooked up properly.
  • Gas lines should be regularly checked.
  • Gas lines should be periodically maintained.
  • Gas detectors should be installed at key spots.

Gas companies have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. When a gas company has actual or constructive notice about a defective condition with one of their lines, they must take action to correct the defective condition. Failing to do this could form the basis of a negligence claim. For example, many gas leaks might occur due to cracks in a particular gas line. Victims of gas explosion accidents tend to suffer very serious and costly injuries.

  • First degree burns
  • Smoke inhalation
  • Organ damage
  • Ear drum ruptures

Any person that is injured in a gas explosion accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Sadly, though, it is common for gas companies to deny all liability for any accident. A personal injury attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
